Vague Rambly UpdateWho set the dial on this time machine, anyway?

The TL;DR: I've been having a rough time but after a lot of misery, an exciting vacation abroad and a nice break from computers, I've managed to claw my way back to MOTIVATION!

I thought through writing up this post several times in several different ways over the past couple days, and after having done so I think nobody really needs me to go on at length about the specific ways in which things have kinda sucked for whatever period of time. So instead I'm gonna try to condense just the positive bits of the past few months! Let's see, what've I got....

Oh yeah! The writing app! So I ditched it, tried some other things, found novelWriter which was sooooo close to what I want, and then I got Scrivener actually working on linux, which is great and I thought would solve my problem entirely, and then as I was using Scrivener I realized there are certain aspects of using Obsidian that I really liked and now Scrivener doesn't work as well for me any more, ha ha. So I decided to give it another shot, but take inspiration from novelWriter - go for a markdown editor instead of a rich text editor. It's WAY better now!

The entire text of Pride and Prejudice in a single document hangs for like 3-5 seconds on my computer when it first loads, but it scrolls and renders juuuust fine now once it loads. Since that's my extreme test case (if you're using this app properly you are never going to have an ENTIRE NOVEL in a single file lol), a few seconds on document changing just for the giant docs is totally acceptable. I've started expanding out some of the other features, like different file types and more types of metadata, as well.

The other thing I've been more actively working on recently is Zerrarium!

I ironed out a bunch of bugs and made it so that all the interaction buttons on the home page Actually Work. Still a lot to do before it's properly playable again, though; user interactions are pretty lacking and some of the mechanics (like bonding) just... don't do anything. Ha. I also feel like it needs some workshopping on ways to make it more engaging? I dunno.

What else, what else... I've got another game idea I'm working on that I don't want to share deets on yet because it's still very much in flux, and I've got a plan to start working on vtuber stuff. And I've also got a BUNCH of stuff to do that's just normal life stuff, like sorting through my things to do a yard sale and infinite cleaning.

Funny enough those last two occurred to me while I was on vacation. We were in another country for 2 weeks, staying in like... apartment-style vacation rentals, and about halfway through the trip I was like, you know what this is making me realize is we have Too Much Stuff back home. So I am going to try to make it so we have Less Stuff. And then I will have less clutter to work around and be able to keep up with regular cleaning? Maybe? We can hope.
